Green Up Your Act are excited to be working with the Princes Trust, to who have asked us provide an Actvitive Citizenship Workshops to Secondary Schools in the UK.
‘ This workshop will support the Active Citizenship activity area of the Achieve programme as well as helping young people engage with STEM through an environmental project in their community. Green up your Act brings environmental issues to life through stimulating discussions, engaging presentations and creative hands on workshops for young people.’

Children learned about eco-friendly ways to increase food production. Youngsters aged six to ten from West Hove Junior School Eco Club run by Philip Hunton, went on the Big Lemon to Kent Science Park in Sittingbourne to learn about the SG1 system (SG1), a mobile germination and seedling factory.
The system is being sent to support farmers in Eldorat, Kenya. During last year’s food crisis in East Africa, food shortages caused prices to soar across the region. Eldorat is a relatively fertile place, but many people face a struggle to survive.
The arrival of the SG1 system will allow local producers to diversify crops. This means better nutrition, higher incomes and greater food security at times of crisis. The children met inventor Alex Bushell, who will be traveling to Kenya, to set up the SG1 system and teach local farmers how to use it.
